Video Project
- What is old, and what is new in any work of art? Using the terms old and new vary drastically depending on the perspective of whoever is being asked. For example, many components of a work of art can be interpreted as old and new. Therefore any piece of art could be classified as either old or new.
- How is art used in everyday life? In everyday life art is used to see the world in different ways and perspectives. . Art can be applied in many different ways which individualizes everyday life. This is how art can be applied to everyday life.
- How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication? Art is used as a vehicle for communication because art transcends language which is often barrier in other forms of communication. Similar to the periodic table of elements, art can be the vehicle of communication that eliminates barriers that tie down other methods of communication through entertainment.
- What problem-solving skills are employed in making works of art? Critical thinking is often the most employed in creating art because it leads to overcoming barriers that inevitably face any artist. Critical thinking will help an artist progress through difficulties in creating art.
- How can an artist create works of art through combining, expanding, and sequencing? Artists often combine multiple ideas to create art. By expanding those ideas and stringing them together in a sequence successful representation through art will occur.
- Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?) Artists produce preliminary plans as an outline to help them create a final piece of work. An artists plans are similar to a writer making an outline when writing an essay.
Video Project Description
This project began with a study of multiple types of films including, live action, computer animation, and stop motion animation. After a week and a half of this I still was unsure of what I wanted to do for the final video project. But before the video project began we went through a series of mini lessons that are designed to help us learn programs that will help us in the final project. By the time the video project began I still had no idea what to do, so I decided to go with a silly dramatic 3-4 minute video. It only took one weekend for me to complete the filming portion then I moved on to editing. I used Adobe Premiere and After Effects to finish the editing and exported the video a day before the project was due. All in all, this is the description of the video project.
Political Cartoon Project:
A VISUAL RESPONSE TO THE DOCUMENTARY, BLACKFISH

I believe that this project has met the project criteria in multiple ways, including the use of Adobe Illustrator and the way in which I was able to communicate my beliefs and a message.By using Adobe Illustrator I had already completed the requirements and criteria of this project, but to make my comic the best that it could be I decided to revisit Photoshop and remove the edge of the paper that made the drawing look very unprofessional. This made the overall drawing come together well as opposed to the tear of the paper in the top corner. As far as the material included in the cartoon, I decided to draw an abnormal looking sea world employee with hands full of cash walking away from an overcrowded cage of orca whales. I also decided to draw a tag for the sea world employee that says,"honesty is key!" I did this to poke fun at the multiple cases of sea world lying to the public and people trying out for a trainer job. Of course this was just one of many ways to share information like this artistically.Other ways to communicate a message are endless but for me include:
write a book
make a piece of, "gallery" type artwork
create a political cartoon
even make a documentary like the film blackish
ect.
I also believe that creating art can drastically differ from viewing art. For example, it takes weeks to months for a quality piece of artwork to be created and to view art it takes seconds to minutes. This is why I personally believe that creating art can differ from viewing art.

Pre Historic Art History Drawings:
For my prehistoric art drawing I decided to go for realism and draw a potted plant. Although this does not go along with a prehistoric setting, I believe I was able to use the project just as effectively as everyone else. For inspiration I looked to the man created dog video that we watched as a class during the beginning of the project and noticed how they briefly mentioned that early humans used mashed up plants and other things to create, "art". I took one of Roxy's plants to use as a reference for my drawing, this meant that I was able to shade and detail the plant very well. To improve this drawing and my own set of skills was implementing the use of charcoal pencils. By using this type of pencil I was able to create extremely dark marks that tied the drawing together very well. After I finished drawing the plant with my reference I scanned it in to the computer and opened it with Adobe Illustrator. Once I had done this I looked into the live trace tool that we had learned about previously and applied it to my drawing in order to create cool filters as shown above. This made my drawing look very different as I shifted between effects, I thought that this was a valuable skill to learn during this project. In the future I believe I will use this technique to create drawings or upload projects to my digital portfolio. This will be helpful for any future projects of mine that will require a drawing. In the end, this is what I have learned and used in my prehistoric art history drawing project.

Self Portrait Project
I decided to represent myself through the musical instruments that I play and used Photoshop to create the black and white effect to compliment the photos. To take the photo I used a simple Pentax camera and many attempts at stabilizing the instruments to photograph them. Afterwards I uploaded the "raw" photos into Photoshop and added the finishing touches to my self portrait project.
