1) What have you learned this week?
Throughout the steps we’ve taken to meet our goals we have learned many things that will effect our project. The first thing that was brought to our attention is that fundraising without a business plan will not be successful. We are preparing to fix this by using what we know about business to craft a carefully worded business plan to share with those considering donating to our business. Not only did we learn that successful fundraising incorporates a business plan, but that making coffee requires a large amount of equipment. We did not anticipate such a steep cost to acquire the most basic of coffee making equipment. We are solving this by holding off on incorporating coffee into our business until we can financially support it.
2) What have you accomplished so far?
So far we have accomplished many small things that will eventually lead to this project’s success. The main accomplishment being fundraising, we have been able to successfully raise $60 dollars which is not a lot but will help us in getting licenses to be able to sell on city property. Another accomplishment we have made is scheduling meetings with community leaders who will be able to guide us in the right direction and help us complete this project.
3) What has gone wrong? What challenges have you faced?
The biggest challenge we have faced is finding a solution to the cost of making coffee. As mentioned before we are holding off on selling coffee until we are sure we can purchase all of the required ingredients.
4) What is your next step of action?"
Our next step of action is following through on the meetings we have scheduled. Depending on how this goes we may be able to set up a small stand at the school to start raising the money that is needed for an actual shop/bike.
